Sequential Order and the First Day of School

Greetings from Ms. Pervaiz!!!

Your challenge is to read the following six sentences, and then put them in sequential order. The sentences are not listed in the correct order, so be sure that whatever order you put them in makes sense. Most sentences do not include our key words, so you must pay attention to what happens in each sentence that will lead to the next.

Be sure to explain your reasons WHY.

Each sentence is labeled 1-6; your response should list the number of the sentences in sequential order. You do not need to rewrite the sentences in your response.

1. Madeleine took the bag from her mother, which was called a "backpack," and saw that it was filled with box of 96 crayons, a glue stick, a pencil case, and a coloring book - she loved all these things!

2. Madeleine and her mother stood outside the large building when her mother turned to her and announced, "Welcome to your first day of school, Madeleine!"

3. After she ate breakfast and brushed her teeth, Madeleine's mother handed her a bright, pink bag with a picture of Dora the Explora on it.

4. As they walked down the street, they approached the large building that always seemed to be filled with the voices (and smell) of children.

5. When Madeleine bounced out of bed to complete her morning routine, she expected no surprises that day.

6. After she finished exploring the contents of her new backpack, Madeleine put it on and followed her mother outside to the sidewalk.

I think this because it sounds like a story when i put it all together.

Sentence 5. is first, sentence 3. is next, then sentence 1.,after that sentence 6.,next is sentence 4.,and finally sentence 2.The reason why i chose to put these sentences in this order is because no one is going to just take a bookbag and search through it early in the morning without waking up,you also can't walk anywhere without waking up.These are my reasons why i chose to put these sentences in this order.

this is how the numbres suppoes to be in sequential order 5,3,1,6,4,2. and when you read the story it will make much better sence to you

the seqeuntial order is 5,3,1,6,4 and,2 because each sentence event follows after another event happens. Like once you have a backpack the next action would be to look inside of it and that's how I know that these sentence makes sense because of the action before it.

5,3,1,6,4,then 2.The reason why I put it in this order is because #5 is first because waking up is always the first part of your day.#3 is second because everybody eats breakfast in the morning.#1 is third because that's when she opens the bookbag from her mom and is amazed by whats inside.#6 is forth because that is when she closes the bookbag and starts walking.#4 is fifth because that is when they get to the school. Finally #2 is last because that is when her mother leaves then the go's to school.

sequence order is a good way to write a story because it helps the reader understand the story and it makes the story more clear. Some stories are not in order and it causes the reader to get confused and the story makes no sense. Its better if you organize your story so the reader can have a purpose understanding your story.Sequence order is when you use key words like: first, then, next, last etc.its good to always have sequence order for your stories from, chrissy :-)

THE CORRECT ORDER OF THE STORY IS FIRST,WHEN MADELIENE BOUNCED OUT OF BED TO COMPLETE HER MORNING ROUTINE,SHE EXPECTED NO SUPRIZES THAT DAY .THEN, AFTER SHE ATE BREAKFAST AND BRUSHED HER TEETH ,MADELEINE'S MOM HANDED HER A BRIGHT PINK BAG WITH A PICTURE OF DORA EXPLORA ON IT .NEXT,MADELEINE TOOK THE BAG FROM HER MOTHER WHICH IS CALLED A BACKPACK AND SAW THAT IT WAS FILLED WITH A BOX OF 96 CRAYONS,A GLUE STICK,A PENCIL CASE,AND A COLORING BOOK-SHE LOVED ALL THESE THINGS!AFTERWARDS,AFTER SHE FINISHED EXPLORING THE CONTENTS OF HER NEW BACKPACK ,MADELEINE PUT IT ON AND FOLLOWED HER MOTHER OUTSIDE TO THE SIDEWALK.FINALLY,AS THEY WALKED DOWN THE STREET,THEY APPROACHED THE LARGE BUILDING THAT ALWAYS SEEMED TO BE FILLED WITH THE VOICES (AND SMELL)OF CHILDREN .LAST, BUT NOT LEAST MEDELEINE AND HER MOTHER STOOD OUTSIDE THE LARGE BUILDING WHEN HER MOTHER TURNED TO HER AND ANNOUNCED ,WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL,MADELEINE. NOW THATS IS THE CORRECT WAY. MR.SMITH,MS.DEBBY,AND MS.PERVAIZ

5 is first because she hopped out of bed.
3 is next because that was her suprise.
1 is after that because her mom gave her the bag and the girl looked in the bag.
6 is after that because they had to get ready to go.
4 is then because they were walking to school.
2 is finally because she did all her stuff and finally met her teacher

5,3,1,6,4,2.It sense to me that she would get out of bed first then brush her teeth and eat breakfest her mom would give her her new backpack. It also made sense to me that she would go through the book bag.lastly i thought she and the mom would go out of the house and start waking until they were infront or a building that was always filled with voices (and smell) of children.then her mother would tell her welcome to her first day of school. This made sense to me because that is how my morning routine goes and if I was a little girl my mother would do the same thing Madeleine's mom did. w

I chose that order because I wanted to start from beginning to end. In number five it tells how she first wakes up. That's the first part because its telling how she starts off her day. At the end it tells how she was excited about her new things in her backpack and how she was excited I'd say that's the end because its showing how she's very excited about her new things and if she's excited about that than she will be excited about school.

these sentences in sequential order would be:5,3,1,6,4,2. the reason why i put them in this order is because it made most sense. what i mean by that is, if i were Madeline from the time i woke up to the time my mom announced my first day of school those probably would have been the things i would have done between that time frame.

The order is:
5,3,1,6,4,2
I think this is the order not only because it makes sense but also because this is what I think would/does happen on most first day's of school. Also when you read it in this order you can understand what the story is about and it doesn't sound like an all over the place.

5-because it talks about how she first gets out of bed
3-because it talks about her gettting ready and her routine afetr she wakes up
1-because in number 3 it tells the reader that the mother hands medeleine a pink book bag and 1 talks about what she did when she took the bag
6-because it talks about what madeleine did after she got do exploring the backpack (in number 1 she expolred the bag)
4-because it talks about what she did when they left out the house after she looked in the bag
2-because it talks about the first time they walked up to the school like in number 4 it said they walked down the street and 2 talks about what the did after they walk down the street

#5 goes first because it starts off by telling us how her morning routine is and it tells how she is getting out of bed. Then #3 goes next because it tells how she is eating brakfast right after she got out of bed. Then #1 goes next because she gets her backpack before she leaves the house. Then #6 goes next because its tells how she is done looking in her bookbag it how she starts to head outside.Afterward they walk down the street they see children which is #4.then finally,#2 goes last because it tells how she gets to her school and its the first day if school from:chrissy

first it goes in sequenc order because well first it talks about a little girl starting school and the order that she started it.Next the oreders that it goes in is first When Madeleine bounced out of bed to complete her morning routine, she expected no surprises that day.Next, she ate breakfast and brushed her teeth.Madeleine's mother handed her a bright pink bag with a picture of dora the explora on it.Then,After she finished exploring the contents of her new backpack,Madeleine put it on and followed her mother outside to the sidewalk.Afterwards,Madeleine took the bag from her mother which was called a backpack and saw that it was filled with 96 box of crayons,a glue stick,a pencil case and a coloring book-and she loved all these things! As they walked down the street they apporched a large building that always seemed to be filled with voices and (smell)of children.Last, Madeleine and her mother stood outside of the large building and her mother turned to her and announced to her"welcome to your first day of school"Madeleine. The End

Kathryn R. says:
The correct order of the events is, 5,3,1,6,4,2. I know this because Madeleine has to get out of bed to go on to go to the next thing, for it to make sense. Madeleine's mother also had to hand her the bag in order fo her to even look inside of it. On the next step she had to have looked in the bag already. For the last steps, Madeleine and her mother had to have walked down the street to have gotten there to the school. The last step is correct because they're at the school already and there's nothing else that they can do.

the order is 5,3,1,6,4,2 because when you read it it seems funny its out of order but if you read it the way my order is you will see it makes more sense its like before you brush your teeth you have to eat first in the story the girl brushed her teeth first then ate breakfastbut in if it was in sequential order she would have ate breakfast first

The Correct Order For The Story Is :

First - 5
Second - 3
Next - 1
Then - 6
Afterwards - 4
Last - 2

- This Order Is Correct Because First She Got Up And Did Her Morning Routines Then She Ate Breakfast And Got Her BackPack From Her Mom Next She Put The BakcPack On AfterWards SHe Left Then She Went To The School

the correct order is 5,3,1,6,4,2 because after reading it in a random order i quickly realize the correct order. I also chose this order because i wrote it down on a piece of paper and basically put the pieces togethor and i think it sounds better in this way. i re-read it again to make sure it sounded right i am confident that this is the correct sequential order

Teh correct order is 5316425 becuase it has words that give you the key of sequential order and you can compare it to what you would do from the time you get up in the mornnig on the first day of school until you get to school.

5,3,1,6,4,2 i picked this order because it madae the most sense and the orer of which the story was told made it sound correct.

5,3,1,4,6 I PICK THIS ORDER BECAUSE IT MAKES MORE SENSE BECAUSE YOU CAN'T EAT BREAKFAST WHY YOU SLEEP AND HOW WAS SHE SUPPOSED TO LOOK IN HER BACKPACK BEFORE SHE TOOK IT FROM HER MOTHER.
